
Wow! Birds are simply faster than some broadband connections these days in delivering data over distances. When I first heard about this contest then wrote about it, it was
September 2009, about a year ago. I thought it was funny then and now it's happened again. Only this time, it's in the UK, a country reputed to be advanced. Well, at least more advanced than last year's African country. For this contest, the bird had to fly 84 miles. The pigeon completed delivery in about 80 minutes. The file upload wasn't even halfway through yet when the bird completed its journey. This is a nice topic to bring up considering the general state of our broadband connections here. You reading this, boss Nemi? We should all get together and make the same contest here. We just need to train some pigeons to deliver the data for us. Hmmm... How far is Cebu from here?
