Telepresence: Updates

First report from me:  July 18, 2009 Somebody has upped the ante and gone for the gold.  A professor at Keio University in Japan and the National University of Singapore named Adrian D. Cheok, has come up with a technology that can deliver controlled electric shocks to the brain to trick you into experiencing something physical with someone over distance. Although Techcrunch's Sarah Lacy has a point, this augmented reality stuff still interests me as my situation has not improved all that much.  I still live quite a distance from my wife and kids and only see them, like, three to five times on average per year.  This technology can certainly help bridge the distance although it's not something to strive for.  Being physically present is still the best for me or for anyone else. In a humorous aside, who remembers the movie Demolition Man?  If you remember this movie, remember how Sandra Bullock's character asked Sly Stallone's character to have sex?  Funny... but it could soon become reality.
